In this post, we’ll highlighting five of our favorite food-related subscription boxes. Ranging from spices to specialty local ingredients, they’ll make your mouth water and inspire you to create some tasty dishes.
1. Cajun Crate
I fell in love with New Orleans and its food after my very first meal there, so I was extremely excited to discover Cajun Crate — a monthly subscription box of Louisiana-made items. Their boxes contain products ranging from coffee to beignet mix, jambalaya to gumbo roux, étouffée sauce to BBQ sauce, and much more.
Cajun Crate partners with everyone from well-known brands to farmer market finds and selects 5–8 different items to deliver each month — with a guide of where each item is from, product history, recipes, and more. It’s always fun to gift tasty subscriptions to a friend or family member.
The are also currently selling Cajun Navy T-shirts where all proceeds go to the Houston Food Bank — so you can get a cool T-shirt and support hurricane relief efforts in Texas at the same time.
I’ve been a Raw Spice Bar subscriber for awhile now, and I love it. It’s a great source of “high quality, unique spices, transparently sourced from around the world.” If you sign up for their quarterly subscription, you’ll get 6 one-ounce packets of freshly ground spices and blends (often inspired by different areas of the world) — which change every quarter so that you can try something completely new and different. All spices come with little recipe cards to offer suggestions on how to incorporate them into actual dishes.
Raw Spice Bar also has some fantastic add-on options such as sets of ground chiles, baking spices, and salt varieties.
This is one of the pricier food subscription options, but for good reason. Sitka Salmon Shares brings responsive and sustainable wild Alaskan seafood directly to your door. All of their fish are wild-caught in Southeast Alaska by “a group of equally wild (though extremely nice) fishermen” — and then landed swiftly in Sitka or Juneau, individually portioned, vacuum-sealed, and blast-frozen to lock in that just-caught taste. Then every month during fishing season, you get a box of wild Alaskan seafood hand-delivered right to your door.

4. Foodstirs
For all the families that like to bake together, Foodstirs offers a Baker’s Club subscription of organic baking DIY kits geared for kids. Their goal is to “help bakers around the world take pride in their pantries, joy in their treats, and time together in the heart of the home.”
The Baker’s Club baking kits are delivered every other month and include curated organic mixes, chemical-free decorations, and all the supplies and kid-friendly instructions you need to make baking a breeze and time together the best treat of all.
Arriving every other month, these kits are themed for each part of the year: Valentine’s Day, Spring/Easter, Summer and the 4th of July, Back to School, Halloween, and Winter holidays.
5. Bakedin
Bakedin is a U.K. alternative to Foodstirs, and geared more for adults. Their Baking Club subscription service was born out of an idea to create a time-saving baking kit that gives the full baking-from-scratch experience, but with a little less hassle. It’s been named in the Independent’s top 15 food subscriptions alongside brands such as Graze, HelloFresh, and Hotel Chocolat.
Each month, Bakedin sends you a unique baking kit with a recipe by world-famous pastry chef Michel Roux. The kits contain all the dry ingredients, an easy to follow recipe card, and some handy extras like the baking paper.
